This is one of the garments in my ‘Curious Animals’ Applique Series; a tiny little baby bear driving along in his/her daisy-wheeled truck. This is one of the images I have used from a vintage rather-worn tablecloth. I originally just used this one applique, but on seeing it photographed thought it looked rather plain so added the two hand appliqued bears. The lining is another piece of rescued fabric printed with a neutral background featuring lots of little playful bears. The piping around the neck and armholes is made from a piece of striped vintage cotton left over from a quilt I made some years ago, and the hem is trimmed with a pink heart trim and a pretty pink check ribbon. Fastening is with poppers on th straps for easy on and off.

I have made this into a pinafore dress for a 1 year old, as remembering my own efforts to dress my daghter in a little dress at that age as she was toddling, she immediately stepped on the full skirt of the dress knocking herself over!
